I had a lot of sidewalk chalk leftover from Davis’ 1st birthday party so I decided to incorporate them into Jackson’s school Valentine’s this year.
I hope the kiddos enjoy the chalk. I always feel like it’s a nice change from receiving candy or chocolates. Especially when we’ve been consuming so much of that since Halloween.
I’ve been so busy with my other freelance work, I haven’t really done too many custom invitations this past year. So when Davis’ first birthday came around, I took full advantage and created something really fun and what I hope is memorable. I knew I wanted to tie in his announcements to the party theme, so I decided on a First Trip Around the Sun theme.
I know that Davis may not remember any of the little details included in his party, much less the party itself, but when he’s older and looks back on photos, I hope he’ll see how special it was and how loved he was by everyone.
Like his older brother’s 1st birthday invites, I wanted to incorporate his monthly photos as well.It was so nice to hear that everyone enjoyed receiving these in the mail and that they loved spinning the wheel to see what each month unfolded.
Here is an animated GIF so you can see what every image contained.
I used one of the photos of him eating his smash cake to make these custom thank you note cards. These party favors complimented the theme really well. I found someone on Etsy that makes these fun plantable die-cut shapes. I packaged them with my own backer card and translucent envelope.Of course, the little kiddos got their own little party favors as well. A goodie bag full of fun little treats.Once again, my sister made this cute little smash cake, that I topped with a matching little flag, and all the delicious cupcakes that got devoured. The wind really picked up that day so a lot of the cute signage and even the balloon arch decor I had created was just being blown around. At least his little high chair banner stuck around for his cake smash and his little custom shirt managed to stay clean the entire day, which is pretty amazing considering this is how well his cake smash went.
I still can’t believe this little guy is one already and that I have two boys. I can’t say I ever imagined my life with two boys, but now, I can’t imagine my life without my two boys. 💙
Blame it on the pandemic and its effect on losing track of time or the fact that I’m a mom of 2 now, but I just haven’t had much time to post on the blog this past year. Yes, you read that correctly, I am now a proud mom of 2 boys.
Meet Davis Jones McClamb…
Square petal envelopes were used to contain the announcement, which was then sealed and mailed.
The night after Davis was born, we experienced a lunar eclipse. I read that “A lunar eclipse signifies something or someone incredible is about to appear.” This became the inspiration for his announcement.I wanted our family and friends to feel like opening his announcement was a small little gift that told a story, complete with photos on the backside.
Since his birth was so close to the holidays, I used it to send our holiday greeting as well. Tucked inside the back was an ornament our friends and family could hang on their tree.
I loved getting photos from family and friends of the ornament hanging on their tree.
Since this marks the 2nd year that we have had to be apart from family during the holidays due to the Covid variant, it was nice to know that we stayed close in the hearts of our family and friends.
Due to COVID-19 the graduating class of 2020 have not been able to experience the joys and celebration that come with this momentous life achievement.
However, just because you may not be able to walk up that stage in front of family and friends to personally receive your diploma doesn’t mean it’s not happening or that it’s less important. And it definitely should not go unnoticed.
Here’s a recent graduation announcement I worked on that celebrates a high school student’s accomplishment.
The quote on the vellum wrap around is from Michael Jordan:
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”
The idea and design behind this announcement was based on including the graduate’s photo, as well as incorporating the school colors.
It’s always a great idea to include corresponding note cards as a way for the graduate to send out handwritten notes.
Customized note cards with the graduate’s name make it that much more special.

Recently there have been a wave of pregnancy announcements that have been surfacing social media and if you can do the math, the current announcements are the results of NOT practicing 6 feet of social distancing in the bedroom. 😂
So I thought it would be fun to design a new simplewear onesie that takes a very serious pandemic situation, that we are currently still experiencing, and give it a bit of a lighthearted twist because I think right now we can all use a bit of a laugh and light in our lives.
