Backyard Movie Night Birthday Party

For Jackson’s 6th birthday, he requested a birthday party where he could celebrate with all is classmates. I immediately thought about a backyard movie night party. A great way to keep the celebration outside, where we have the space to host plenty of people, and also include something that Jackson loves, watching movies.

For food, I stuck to a concession stand theme. Box trays filled with hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and candy, which was a HUGE hit with our guests. Since I knew it would be a chilly night, I also had hot cocoa and coffee available.

Since The Lorax was the movie we showed that night, I thought it would be fun to do some themed mini cupcakes, which my sister once again nailed.

How cute are these truffela trees (cotton candy) and brown barbaloots (teddy grahams) covered mini cupcakes?!?!

The kids enjoyed watching the movie in our inflatable pool filled with tons of pillows and blankets while the parents stayed cozy on our patio furniture, yard chairs and plenty of blankets.

I totally forgot to take pictures of the goodie bags before the kids started taking them, but I used the same popcorn bags we used , filled them with fun little treats and sealed them with a cute little sticker.

I’ve always been a big believer in thank you notes and I will continue to instill these values to my kids. Showing your gratitude and making sure a person knows that their thoughtful gesture does not go unnoticed is so important. Jackson has been practicing to read and write more in class this year so I thought these thank you cards would be great for him. It took a few days for him to get through over 20 thank you notes, but he did it and I couldn’t of been more proud as a parent.

Davis’ 2nd Greatest Birthday

I still can’t believe it’s been a year already since Davis’ 1st birthday celebration! Although I opted for a more intimate celebration this year by going to the circus and dinner afterwards, I still thought it would be fun to mail out invitations to the few that would be attending. Here is a look at the circus themed invitations I designed, plus a few pics from the event.

Love the vintage inspired circus cupcake toppers my friend found at an estate sale. They were a perfect fit for this year’s theme and for the homemade cupcakes I made.

Davis’ First Trip Around the Sun

I’ve been so busy with my other freelance work, I haven’t really done too many custom invitations this past year. So when Davis’ first birthday came around, I took full advantage and created something really fun and what I hope is memorable. I knew I wanted to tie in his announcements to the party theme, so I decided on a First Trip Around the Sun theme.

I know that Davis may not remember any of the little details included in his party, much less the party itself, but when he’s older and looks back on photos, I hope he’ll see how special it was and how loved he was by everyone.

Like his older brother’s 1st birthday invites, I wanted to incorporate his monthly photos as well.
It was so nice to hear that everyone enjoyed receiving these in the mail and that they loved spinning the wheel to see what each month unfolded.

Here is an animated GIF so you can see what every image contained.

I used one of the photos of him eating his smash cake to make these custom thank you note cards.
These party favors complimented the theme really well. I found someone on Etsy that makes these fun plantable die-cut shapes. I packaged them with my own backer card and translucent envelope.
Of course, the little kiddos got their own little party favors as well. A goodie bag full of fun little treats.
Once again, my sister made this cute little smash cake, that I topped with a matching little flag, and all the delicious cupcakes that got devoured.
The wind really picked up that day so a lot of the cute signage and even the balloon arch decor I had created was just being blown around. At least his little high chair banner stuck around for his cake smash and his little custom shirt managed to stay clean the entire day, which is pretty amazing considering this is how well his cake smash went.

I still can’t believe this little guy is one already and that I have two boys. I can’t say I ever imagined my life with two boys, but now, I can’t imagine my life without my two boys. 💙

Announcing Davis Jones

Blame it on the pandemic and its effect on losing track of time or the fact that I’m a mom of 2 now, but I just haven’t had much time to post on the blog this past year. Yes, you read that correctly, I am now a proud mom of 2 boys.

Meet Davis Jones McClamb…

Square petal envelopes were used to contain the announcement, which was then sealed and mailed.

The night after Davis was born, we experienced a lunar eclipse. I read that “A lunar eclipse signifies something or someone incredible is about to appear.” This became the inspiration for his announcement.
I wanted our family and friends to feel like opening his announcement was a small little gift that told a story, complete with photos on the backside.

Since his birth was so close to the holidays, I used it to send our holiday greeting as well. Tucked inside the back was an ornament our friends and family could hang on their tree.

I loved getting photos from family and friends of the ornament hanging on their tree.

Since this marks the 2nd year that we have had to be apart from family during the holidays due to the Covid variant, it was nice to know that we stayed close in the hearts of our family and friends.

A Special Mother’s Day Tribute

A quote by Angela Schwindt:
“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.”

Wishing all you mamas out there a very special and Happy Mother’s Day!

Making the most of our current situation and created a fun (and super appropriate) Mother’s Day quarantine style card for all the special mamas in Jackson Danny’s (and my) life.
