Celebrating & Announcing a 2020 Graduate During a Pandemic

Due to COVID-19 the graduating class of 2020 have not been able to experience the joys and celebration that come with this momentous life achievement.

However, just because you may not be able to walk up that stage in front of family and friends to personally receive your diploma doesn’t mean it’s not happening or that it’s less important. And it definitely should not go unnoticed.

Here’s a recent graduation announcement I worked on that celebrates a high school student’s accomplishment.

The quote on the vellum wrap around is from Michael Jordan:

“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”

The idea and design behind this announcement was based on including the graduate’s photo, as well as incorporating the school colors.

It’s always a great idea to include corresponding note cards as a way for the graduate to send out handwritten notes.

Customized note cards with the graduate’s name make it that much more special.

DIY Graduation Money Leis

My niece and nephew are both graduating this year, so I thought it would be fun to get crafty and create a graduation money lei for each of them.

I used this video as my guide and used materials I already had around the studio to create these two leis.

Leftover wrapping paper, scraps of colored paper, ribbon, straws, tape, plus crisp bills that I had to get from the local bank.

A Personalized Gift Idea for The Graduate

One of my favorite gifts to give graduates, especially college grads, is personalized notecards. In a world of emails and text messages, I still believe in the importance of a handwritten note. Whether it’s to thank a potential job interviewer for taking that time to meet or to thank your best friend for the thoughtful graduation gift. Taking the time to hand write a note, shows a great deal of gratitude that others will truly appreciate.

My cousin recently graduated from USC, so I did a custom design for him along with the typewritten notecards.

I decided to be a little playful with this set by including 3 different envelope colors, USC Trojan inspired colors: red, yellow, and white.

gifts for the grad

may is here!  which means, it’s also graduation time for many students.  i’ve always liked the idea of gifting custom notecards to graduating students.  they’ll definitely have use for it when it comes to thanking friends and family for all the love and support they’ve received over the years.  plus, many will receive generous gifts which definitely will need to be followed up with a thank you note!  here’s a couple custom notecards i just created for some soon to be graduates.

school name, colors, logo or a graduating year is always fitting for this occasion.  depending on style preference, custom notecards is available folded or flat.
